30 Years of Mac

“Nobody had any idea 30 years ago what the world was going to be like now, or how these tools were going to be used. They are interesting precisely because we don’t know how they are going to be used tomorrow.”

Apple introduced Mac to the world 30 years ago today, and what an incredible three decades it has been. I got my first MacBook Air, an 11″ model, in preparation for my first trip to China, and it quickly became my primary computer despite its diminutive size. I would say things like, “You’ll pry this miracle out of my cold, dead hands.” As it turned out,  I could be convinced to give it up by less drastic measures–work bought me a shiny new 13-incher. Ooooh shiny…

While we can’t possibly know Showcase’s future, I think there are some obvious speculations about how you might interact with our mobile sales app:

  1. You’ll use Showcase while riding in your driverless flying cars
  2. Showcase’s Sales Library module will support hologram files
  3. 3-D printing? Try 4-D product printing right from the catalog app

Mind. Blown.
